Business Mileage Tax Refunds…

Do you use your own car for business use?

If you use your own car for work purposes it is common to be paid a mileage allowance from your employer. Any allowance paid by your employer is just a contribution, and there is no obligation from your employer to pay any allowance for business mileage. A claim can be made for the last four tax years, and you dont have to still be with the employer to make a claim.

The full mileage allowance that can be claimed is currently .45p per mile for the first 10,000 miles and .25p thereafter. If any mileage paid by your employer is below the full mileage allowance then a further claim is possible in the form of a mileage tax rebate claim.

Many people may assume that if they are paid a mileage allowance from their employer a further claim cannot be made – this is not true depending on your circumstances. In addition if your mileage allowance is taxed, then it is possible to claim the full mileage allowance, and not just the difference between the amount paid by your employer and the full mileage rates.

You can find out how much mileage tax relief can be claimed by using the FREE business mileage tax rebate calculator.
